To express, not to impress.

Mari kembali ke premis to express not to impress.

Dalam premis to express, not to impress, fokusnya ada pada diri sendiri.

I used to have it on the dance floor, I just need to put it into bigger scopes.

Ask yourself, what drives you?

Semoga bermanfaat.Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-53562098248943860772019-10-18T14:04:00.002-07:002019-10-18T19:59:32.403-07:00Memeriksa Brand Equity: Saya Bilang A, Kok Kamu Bilang B?

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

We never knew what others said about us.

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

Mari nikmati prosesnya. Jadi, apa yang orang lain bilang soal kamu?

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Tulisan ini dibuat di jam-jam magis, setelah terjadi obrolan mendadak bersama

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">mas Farid Stevy di DM Instagram. Dibuatnya di jam magis (sebelum subuh),

<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">postingnya tetap jam prime time, lah. Demi konten. Sekian.

Being responsible with your choices is more important than just being different.

It’s about taking the opportunity. It’s about making things happens.

<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">Don’t judge a book by its cover. How many time we’ve heard that advices? Feels like it’s been told to us over and over again. This post will cover the perspective around that premise from a person who have problem in the term of visual.

<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19.4px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">Let me explain my background. I have, let’s say, bellow average height. In the other way, I’m short. For 25 years, I always be the shortest guy in the crowd. Kindergarten, elementary school, high school, college, works. You can identify my presence in any group photo by noticing the shortest person. If your eyes catch the shortest person, congratulations, you have found me!! It is not a big deal, actually. Just because I’ve been through this for a long time, I can accept that.

<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19.4px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">Here goes the fact that happens to me in the term of visual (body height). To be clear, I don’t consider this as a major problem.

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">First, people always think that I am younger than my real age. Yes, my height makes me look like a teenager.

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">Second, they often make it as a joke. You know, in the term of jokes, covering physical appearance is very easy to do. It is right in front of your eyes.

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">Third, I used to feel not confident because of my height. I’m gonna use the simplest example here. It may sounds cheesy, but it is real. Approaching girl was terrifying. There. I said that.

<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19.4px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">The point is, visual does matter. It help us in developing certain feeling, impressions and assumptions upon specific entity. It could be a person, biz, organization, etc.

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">But, it is not the only thing that matters. Visual only the first identifiable component that can be accessed when we encounter new entity.

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">Visual does matter, but another deeper, complex and intangible also matter. A person’s way of thinking, knowledge, expertise also matter. It maybe matter more than the visual component.

<div class="p2" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 19.4px;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">

<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; color: #454545; font-family: ".SF UI Text"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-family: ".SFUIText";">I write this to encourage anyone out there who maybe have the same visual issues as mine to be more confident. And to remember that it is not only about visual.

Have you ever had one big dream you want so bad? A dream that always in you mind day and night. A dream that make you nervous but happy at the same time. I bet you have this kind of dream. The next question is, are you trying to get that dream? If your question is no, what is the reason? Mostly people will give up on their dream just because they’re scared if they fail. And it’s a common reason in our society. Thanks to our logical mind.

Here comes the fun part. Let’s imagine, if you have one magic chance. What if, you would never failed in catching your dream? Would you still pursue that dream?

I’m not gonna write a long blogpost about this imaginary opportunity. I write this, to check my own dream. If I ever got that magical opportunity, would I still chase my dream? If the biggest barrier has been removed, and I still not sure with my answer, I think I need to reconsider my dream. Do I really want it?

Now, do you really want it?

Lelah, pasti pernah datang. Cukup sering, bahkan.

Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-82058855949148770852019-05-02T03:44:00.002-07:002019-05-02T03:44:29.428-07:00Pattern and How It Can Help You in Life<span style="font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Been away for a while from this blogging stuffs, and it feels really good to be back again.
As always, I write this piece spontaneously. Call me impulsive, what can I say. This thought just crosses my mind, and I think it's worth to remember, at least for me personally.

This content will talk about 'pattern'. Yes, pattern. According to common translation, a pattern is a repeated decorative design. Another translation says a pattern is a model or design used as a guide in needlework. I, personally see there two main points in those two definitions. First, it is about repetition, and the second one is about the guide. And, during our life, we certainly walking through a pattern, whether we realize it or not.

First, a pattern is about repetition. Along the way, we have done and been doing tons of things, right? And there will always an imaginary line tied all those things we have done. All those things may come through a different form. Maybe I joined scout in my junior high and then learned how to play jazz in my senior high, and so on. I can continue this list with more than 500 activities in my 26 years, and so can you. The important thing is about the imaginary line. If I see all the things I've been doing, I believe I can see the imaginary line. The abstract idea that pushes me doing the things. Further, I can identify which activities I like and which I don't. Or which activities work for me and which don't and why. All those repetitions should give me a very rich insight that can help me understand who I really am. What do I like, what works for me and why it works for me.

Let's move to the next point. A pattern can be used as a guide. Right, If I'm careful and meticulous enough, by now I should have enough information about all the things I've done and transformed into an observable pattern. So, the next time I'm about to make a decision, I just can glance to the stored pattern and use it as a guide. At least I'm not totally blind with will come. My past pattern will help me interpret the future. Maybe not 100% accurate, hey, but it's better than being totally clueless.

From now on, I think I need to be more aware of identifying my own pattern in life.
My question is, have you identified your pattern?Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-59062916910723189682019-04-22T04:51:00.001-07:002019-04-22T04:51:56.141-07:00I Write to Keep My Mind SaneI've just realized one weird thing lately. Wasn't in a good health condition for the last couple of weeks, so my daily activity was a bit limited and blogging is one of which. Yes, I haven't posted anything lately and turns out it could be a problem for me. At this point, I feel that blogging has entered a deeper level in my daily life.

It will sound weird for others, but I feel that my mind is full and crowded when I don't do blogging. By my simple analysis, the reason is pretty simple. In the connected world, we're always consuming content 24/7. From social media, news channel, messenger platform, ebook, and so on. Simply said, we're in the mode of consuming content most of the time. I see the human mind just like storage. It can store millions of content and information every single day, and the number of content will keep growing time after time. For me personally, the way to keep my storage in a good condition is by creating content. My scientific background on this particular subject is obviously insufficient, and everything I said is solely based on my experiences.

By creating content, I have a good way to reprocess all the information in my mind. During the writing process, I need to recall stored information, understand it and turn it into an understandable blog post. The process, somehow, reduces the tension in my mind that might be caused by information overload. I never realized this phenomenon before, but it's happening on me. I write to keep my sanity in this information-overflowed era. Besides, maybe there will be people who find my pieces of content is quite helpful and useful for them.

It feels good because I purely do this for myself. I don't really care about the number, I don't really care about the sentiment I get from others.Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-13603915244444062442019-04-08T00:56:00.002-07:002019-04-08T00:56:42.456-07:00Don't Worry Too Much About How & WhenBeen living in this lovely world for 26 years has taught me one simple thing, that life is unpredictable. One simple premise that is true yet very hard to embrace. Just to give you a brief explanation, try to remember when did the last time your plan didn't go as expected? Can you answer that? Good. Now, try to remember how many time it happens to you? Probably like a lot!

When I say life is unpredictable, I've been experiencing tons of 'plan didn't go as expected' stuffs in my life. Life seems unpredictable because there are lots of factors in it outside yourself. Let's say you have a plan to have a fancy dinner. In that simple plan, there are lots of proponents that will affect your plan. Wheater can be the problem. Or maybe the restaurant you like is fully booked. Or suddenly your parents ask you to do other stuff. See? A very simple plan can be unpredictable. What about the bigger and more complex plan? The proponents involved and the probability will be more complex too, for sure.

By realizing that, I'm not the only proponent that will decide my plan, I can say that life is unpredictable. I may have prepared anything, but I will never be able to control the wheater. So, how to face this ugly truth? My method is by not worrying too much about how and when. Yes, I do only care about my goals. What I want and why I want it. I can say that the reason why I want that goal is more important than the goal itself. Why? I will explain it in a different blog post. As long as I know what my goal is, I don't really care about how it will be done or when. Because I know life will always have tons of surprise for me. And that is the beauty of this unpredictable life. When I don't really care about how and when, suddenly good things just happen. Because I don't really care about how and when, life gives me a way that is beyond my expectation. And that's okay for me because I don't really care about how and when anyway. So, why bother? The most important thing is, I finally get what I want. I finally reach the finish line.

After embracing and implementing this simple idea, life seems easier and more fun to enjoy.Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-34514549390573295122019-04-01T04:55:00.000-07:002019-04-01T04:55:02.612-07:00Positive Vibes ResonatesThis blog post may sounds cliche for some people. Some others maybe will think that I'm naive. But, here it is.

A couple of days ago, I was working on a podcast hosted by Share.inc. Yes, the sharing platform I and my team have been working on for almost two years decide to use the podcast to expand our distribution. We want to create a bigger impact. Long story short, I was editing the podcast when I saw Sheggario Instagram story. He was working in his podcast, Curhat Babu, as well. Spontaneously, I replied his Instagram story with a picture of me in front of my laptop with Adobe Audition opened. I said, "Doing the same thing here. About to start spreading good things through the podcast." After a little while, Sheggario posted my reply on his Instagram story. He said, "Positive vibes resonate." Chill, it is not about how excited I was when saw Sheggario Instagram story mentioning me. It's about the word he said. Positive vibes resonate.

Yes, I do believe that every vibe, whether it's positive or negative will resonates. Somehow, this world has one interesting mechanism in spreading the vibe. When you see something bad, you will feel bad. When you see something good, you will feel good. Or, when you're doing something good, others may feel the positive vibes too. Knowing how this vibes spread, I've decided to spread the positive vibes. Because I know I will never be able to eliminate the negative vibes out there, but at least I can spread the positive vibes, hoping someone out there will feel the good vibes. Further, those who feel the good vibes will do other good things. It doesn't have to be big. It can be as simple as appreciating other works. Or post your work on social media. Hey, you never knew that your content would inspire someone out there. Maybe, they want to do the same thing with what you do, but they still need to be encouraged. What you share, maybe the things that will drive others to do the same thing. It is a very simple premise we often forget.

I hope you remember this simple premise the next time you're about to do something. Remember, positive vibes resonate. Start spreading the positive vibes by doing anything you can do. For me, I hope this post will remind me of this simple premise.
I know it's weird. I do make content across several platforms, but I don't think the term content creator fits me. It's only my personal preference. I just don't feel good using the term for me personally.

If you know me for a while, you know I do create and share content through several platforms. This blog is one of the platforms I use. I share content on Instagram and Twitter as well. Here's one thing I always remember every time I create and share content. I never did it for the number or fame. There are two main reasons why I create and share content.

First, because I want to. Yes. Just because I think about stuff, and I think it would be good to create a blog or Instagram story about it. I only create content that matters to me personally. If you have followed this blog for a while, you knew I use this blog mostly for my personal notes. Notes that may be in the future would be useful for me, or for my closest circle (my family, friend, colleague maybe). And maybe someone out there will find this content is useful in a way. That's my first reason. I create content because I want to.

The second reason, because there is someone who wants to find out about one particular thing that I know. For example, I will write a blog post about brand and branding, if someone asks me about it and I think it's better to explain it in the form of a blog post. It feels really good to be able to help others with my limited resources. You know, one small good thing can bring another bigger good thing. The point is, I just want to help others.

Here comes the main idea of this blog post. I love blogging. I love writing. But there some limitations in writing. First, it really takes time to write something (even in the Instagram story that requires less filter in the term of quality control). I need to write down the idea, read it again to make sure everything is clear enough and no bias idea on it. If you do write just like me, you know the struggle is real. The second one is, sometimes there are things that better explained not in the form of written text. You know, some questions are better answered through a conversation or at least spoken content. It's been a problem for me in writing content.

I actually had a plan to create content in a different form to solve the problem. I thought audiovisual or audio content can fix my problem. But I decided not to do it because I don't think my thing is good enough. Until a few days ago, I met a young man named Firman Rafiandy. The vocalist of Vibes and the man behind Sasana Karya. We had a very good conversation, and he asked me why I haven't shared content on YouTube. The conversation echoed in my head for a couple days, and finally, I decided to do it. You can listen to the reason I start sharing on YouTube through this piece of content.

I will share some thought and perspective on YouTube as well. Just like this blog, I will share content that matters to me or someone has asked me about. The difference is, I will cover certain content that more proper to be explained through spoken words.

Again, I mostly will use YouTube as my personal note just like my blog.
If there is someone out there feel it is useful and helpful, well, that's a bonus for me.Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-10456644861252342502019-03-22T06:38:00.002-07:002019-03-22T06:38:29.002-07:00Having Integrity in Social Media & Real LifeSocial media sometimes is harmful to those who have no consistency and integrity. Why? Let me explain. In the social media realm, it is very easy to create any pieces of content you want. People will create pieces of content to build very specific images or reputation to the audiences' mind. If you want to be perceived as a person who loves coffee, you only need to post a lot of coffee-related content. If you want to be perceived as a person who smart, you can post books and other smart stuff.

But the challenge appears when it comes to real life. You need to make sure in real life you are just like what you've posted in your social media. If you always post content about coffee, you need to prove that you really know anything about coffee in real life. If you post a lot of content about books you read, you need to show that your knowledge is really rich through your day to day conversation. Don't be a person who looks very smart in social media, but knows only a little in real life. Be consistent between digital life and real life. You need to be like what your content on social media always shows. It's called having integrity. With no integrity, people can just think you're no reliable. Don't make your content on social media be the one factor that will take your reputation down. Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-36084437246446712332019-03-19T05:57:00.003-07:002019-03-19T05:57:51.599-07:00New Way to Determine a Brand Touch PointI just re-read a very good book titled The Brand Flip by Marty Neumeier. If you've been following me on my digital channel, I'm sure you have heard this name before. Marty Neumeier is the person who opens up my horizon on brand fields. If you want to check his book, make sure you read all of his books. Start from The Brand Gap, Zag, and The Brand Flip. It will be a very solid fundamental in brand fields.

In The Brand Flip, Marty Neumeier talks about how the scheme of how a brand should work has changed along the way. With all those technologies development and the effect on consumer behavior, a brand should have adapted in the term of it operates. One point that really pulls my interest is when he talks about the brand touch point. First, a brand touch point is all assets used by a brand to build its reputation. It can be a logo, name, business card, customers service, and so on. Every brand touch point used will build a certain reputation on consumers mind. The problem is, how to choose the right brand touch point for a brand?

Marty Neumeier says that brand touch point should not be too much. It should be compact and efficient. Why? The more brand touch point you have, the more resources you need to maintain it. The key is in efficiency and compact. What brand touch point should a brand use? This is where the real problem appears. In the book, Marty Neumeier has found an easy framework to determine which touch point should be used. He divides brand touch point into four categories.

SHALLOW - GENERAL
It's the touch point that gives no detail information about the brand. And it is general. Means it is for the mass audience. It is not specially crafted. The purpose is to trigger awareness. Touchpoint that belongs to these categories is name, logo, business card, elevator pitch, etc.

SHALLOW - PERSONAL
It's the touch point that still gives no detail information but specially crafted for a very specific person. It may attract people interest in the brand. Touchpoint that belongs to these categories is a company blog, product demo, personal offers, social media, etc.

DEEP - GENERAL
It's the touch point that gives deeper information about the brand but crafted for a broader audience. Touchpoint that belongs to these categories is founding story, partnership, keynote speeches, etc.

DEEP PERSONAL
It's the superstar in these categories. The touchpoint that gives deep information and specially crafted for a very specific person. Touchpoint that belongs to these categories is a free sample, brand advocacy, workshops, call center (customers services), sales representative, customers review, etc.

Start from the first category to the last one is aligned with the process from awareness to commitment. If your goal is to have awareness, start with the first two categories. If you aim for the commitment, you should focus on the last categories.

So, have you chosen and maintained the right brand touchpoints?Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-81243055339405809892019-03-12T05:56:00.000-07:002019-03-12T05:56:05.190-07:00To Understand that Everyone is Special, is the Key to AuthenticityEach person was born with a very specific unique condition. Whether it's the physical condition or the emotional & intellectual state. The first component is more permanent and isn't easy to tweak. You know, we can just add few centimeters to someone's height. That is okay tho, your physical appearance will make you who you are. Maybe you're that white, tall, black hair man. Or maybe you're a short man with big eyes. By only identifying the physical appearances, we are already able to differentiate one person to another.

Let's add the second component. The emotional & intellectual state. It is more abstract and fluid. Means you can shape it and change it accordingly on your own will. You can learn a new language if you want. You can try to figure out how to play a musical instrument. Or maybe you're interested in human's behavior so you keen to learn about psychology. All those emotional & intellectual assets will also shape who you are. Let's say there are two people with an exact similar physical appearance, I bet both of them have different interest, knowledge, and experiences. Thus make both of them different. Still, think you are not unique?

Let's dive deeper. In your life, you will have tons of experience from your early day in elementary school until you've graduated from university. In every phase of your life, you will go through macro and micro-experiences that I personally guarantee is different from your colleague. Maybe you won a mathematics competition when you were in elementary school. Or maybe, you learned how to draw in high-school. Each individual has its own unique story and experiences. Still, think you are not unique?

If you have changed your mind and realize if you are, at some point, unique, it will become easier to embrace your authenticity. Being authentic means simply embracing your own uniqueness you got during life. Being authentic is not about pushing yourself into someone who is not you for the sake of being different. It is about understanding who you are and what makes you special. Have you done that?Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-86450511403102090052019-03-10T23:04:00.000-07:002019-03-10T23:04:06.708-07:00You Know Something They Don'tI've posted a blog about how people know something I don't. It's a good point of view that keeps me humble when meeting new people. In my mind, I'm repeating this mantra, "There will always something new I can learn from him/her."

In this blog, I will share the opposite perspective. Not to make you become cocky, but to make you understand that you are, at some point, special.

Most people come to me and complain about the same thing regarding content creation. The basic problem is they are not sure what to talk about in their content. What's bothering me is, they haven't realized that they already have the content to talk about. Let me elaborate it briefly.

First, in making content, we tend to think about the visual or the execution first before we even thinking about the core idea. We jump into what picture will be used and another similar stuff. Let's just slow down a little bit and start thinking about the whole idea first. Don't rush into the visual stuff before we know for sure what the content is all about. In this phase, people may be confused because they think they have nothing interesting to talk about. Let's move into the second point.

The second one, we always chase the sophisticated and complex stuff in order to impress others, don't we? Why don't we start it with the smallest part first? How? By realizing that we know something others don't. For example, as a digital consultant, I know what engagement rate is in details. I can understand the concept and explain it to my client so they understand what is engagement rate. For me, the engagement rate is something small, because I knew it already for a long time. Here's the interesting part. But, maybe there's someone out there hasn't understood what engagement rate is about. So, a simple thing that maybe trivia for me is valuable for others. If I create content that explains what is engagement rate, there is someone out there willing to read it. Right? What simple for us, may be valuable for others. Every person has its own unique knowledge and story that others don't know. This can be a good foundation in finding a theme or topic for your content. You are unique. Don't be afraid to speak and share what you know, because others may haven't known about it yet.

This blog is inspired by one of my old friend's tweet.
I like his spirit.

Note this:

I will not care how many people will see my blog (or even see my tweet), but I am content if someone out there deemed my blog useful. Hope someone, somewhere enjoy my blog. So, cheers! 🍻

He is content if someone out there doesn't know what he does and maybe find his blog is useful. How cool is that?

Anyway, if you need some insight related to the digital realm, you may want to check my friend's blog!
Yes, we do like to wait.
We are waiting for the ideal moment.
We are waiting for the perfect client.
We are waiting for the right partner.
We are waiting for the next offer.
We are waiting for being big to do something big.

It's not wrong to do so, but there's another way to try.
Let's talk about waiting for being big to do something big. Most people are afraid to do something big because they think they need to be big to do it. "Well, who am I to do something massive?"
"Well, people haven't known me yet. How could I get the attention?"
I am sure you can add another excuse on the list.

We need to see it in another perspective. First, it is something we do that make us big. Not the other way around. It's easy to do something big when we already have the fame, but nothing is fancy about that. But it is not impossible to something big with what we have now. Maybe we're no one right now; but with the right things to do, we can be someone. What we do, will make others notice our presence. Thus they will acknowledge us with a certain reputation. It is about starting doing and sees the result.

Second, it is about persistence. Doing something big will push us to be consistent and persistent. Starting is just the beginning; keeping it sustainable is the real challenge. And, does not correlate with whether we're big or small. It is about the hustle. It is about the strong will to keep it real and consistent. We may start small, but with the right mindset and strong will, things will getting bigger. There is no one-night success. It will inevitably take time. Maybe months, or even years. The only thing we can do is, continue doing it over and over till it becomes big.

The next time you're afraid to do something big, remember this:
"It is what you do that will make you big, not the other way around. All it takes is strong will and persistence."

Now, ready to do something really big?Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-24211643354805405602019-02-03T04:28:00.002-08:002019-02-03T04:28:55.599-08:00The Essence of CollaborationSo many people say it's time to collaborate. Yes, we all agree that collaboration is the thing now. But, how many of us that really able to implement the concept of collaboration? That's the question we need to answer first.

By all means, I personally into collaboration. For me, the collaboration will open more opportunity for anyone involved. Whether it's about connection, opportunity, experiences, or even material benefits. But those are the results. The end output. At the very beginning, we need to put those stuff aside. Why? Because collaboration needs trust and the same vision. We need to be honest and transparent in doing a collaboration. Let's say, once we put money first, I bet the collaboration won't be good and smooth. Why don't we just put the quality of the collaboration first? Good stuff will bring you a good result (money) for sure.

Further, collaboration has one significant barrier which is the competitive mindset. When doing a collaboration, we need to be open and transparent to any party involved. It's a180 degree different with the competitive mindset. In competition, we need to put all our effort to be the best. We do something only for ourselves. In collaboration, we have higher goals. It's a collaborative goal. It's a collective project. There's no me in collaboration. It's us. We can not claim a collaboration as one man work.

I recently have a great experience in collaboration. Two days ago, my team and I needed to visit Kudus. We have a project there. One interesting point is, we get this big project because of collaboration. One big design studio in Jogjakarta, Macmuro Studio, offered us to work together in one big project. With no hesitation, we take their offer. Why? First, I need to admit without this collaboration, I can't get this kind of big project. Macmuro Studio is a studio design with years of experiences, portfolios, and networks. Few types of stuff that StudiBrand.inc can't beat. Secondly, this is a big project which needs to be tackled by quite big resources (manpower and roles). StudiBrand.inc won't be able to address this project with our current resources. Third reasons, we want to experience real collaboration. Collaboration on the level of professional works. We want to know how this collaboration will work and how it will impact every party involved.

Shoutout to Dimas Nurcahyo of Macmuro Studio for taking StudiBrand.inc into this project. It's an honor for us. Only man with a big heart and big vision can really lead a collaboration, and Dimas Nurcahyo is one of a kind. He's the man who introduced me to a new scheme of creative works, where collaboration is at the center of it. Hopefully, there will be more collaboration between StudiBrand.inc & Macmuro Studio. Hopefully, one day, StudiBrand.inc can be the party who initiate the collaboration. Since day one, we never said we're in a competition. We just want to help others, and by all means, collaboration is one tool to help others. Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-84117444604108913002019-01-25T02:42:00.004-08:002019-01-25T05:32:31.277-08:00Believe in ProcessHow many times do you hear the wise advice about the process? Thousands, or maybe millions of times, for sure. I personally do believe in the process. What makes it feels so hard to believe in the process is the fact that sometimes the result just not that good. It’s a paradox. How come we need to enjoy the process, if the end result is bad? It’s a matter of how we see the indirect results.

We always see the result or end output as the primary reward. If the end output sucks, we’re screwed. Thus we can’t appreciate the process. Let’s change the perspective a little bit. When you’re doing a process, it’s the process that really matters to you. Do it because you have to do it. Talk about the result at the end. A good process will leave you good stuff. If the result not that good, at least you get the experience.

Quick example.

I’m trying to start a biz. With blood, sweat, and tears, the biz only lasts for a year. If I only see the result, I’m apparently a failure. My biz doesn’t survive. Period. But, I need to look at the other side. In 12 months, I’ve been doing many things I haven’t done before. I got a bunch of experiences related to biz that I couldn’t get from any books. Now I know how actually to manage money for biz. Now I know how to maintain a whole team. Stuff I knew nothing about before. So, even the biz won’t survive, I have upgraded my skill. I have leveled up from know nothing to had the real experience. Using that perspective, it’s not a total failure tho. The process brings me stuff that may be useful for me in the future.

So, do not see the process as a short result. It’s the process that really matters.Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-39947294502492811422019-01-22T23:18:00.001-08:002019-01-25T05:35:46.967-08:00Don't Wait for a PerfectionSometimes, we wait. We wait, for a perfection. We wait for the right moment to come to our life and take it. We wait, to be ready to do something. We expect for the right client with the perfect situation as we wish. We wait for a miracle to works on us.

What's the result of this long waiting? None. We wait and wait, and all we do is just sit and do nothing. Have you ever experienced this? I personally believe that we won't be 100% ready for anything. Often times, we do something we haven't done before, and it's totally fine. Why? Because humans have the ability to learn. We can see how things work, understand it and learn how to do it. We can analyze the problem, find what's the root cause and try to solve it. Right? So, why we tend to wait for the perfect situation? Because we love making excuses. We like to blame others for any bad situation happens. Only a few people have the guts to stand and take all the credit for bad things. Right? So, because we're scared something bad will happens and we have to take the credit for it, we just say, "I think I will wait for the next opportunity."

One certain thing in life is, life will always change. It's a fluid reality that will always change along the way. Do not be afraid. We have the ability to adapt, learn and change as well. Do not be scared, if we fail on something, at least we gain one or two things from it. Just keep learning, and everything will be just fine.Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-7829465027694609052019-01-22T07:00:00.001-08:002019-01-22T07:00:43.546-08:00It's Getting Late and It's GoodIt's 22.00 already. For some people, it's already late. Maybe, it's time to crawl to bed and sleep. Or, maybe, it's the right time to think.

I'm a morning person. I feel like I'm super efficient early in the morning. I start working around 6 or 7 in the morning. Scheduling my agenda for the whole day, checking some works, delegating stuff to my team, are my activities almost everyday. But I prefer evening for the thinking session. Yes, I like to think when it's getting really late just like this. I don't know, it's just quite. Less distraction, means more focus on stuff I need to think. Less notification on phone, no one talks to me, no noisy traffic. It is just me and anything I have in mind.

Just like what I'm doing now. It is only me, my laptop, list of stuffs I need to think, and just few notifications on my phone. Perfect. So, are you a morning thinker, or night thinker?Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658068966431842284.post-22581613356193249062019-01-21T20:56:00.004-08:002019-01-21T20:56:44.785-08:00Don't you get tired with all your daily activity?I missed one blogpost yesterday, because yesterday was pretty busy. Me and my team had to go to Jogja for a video production. So, basically I was too tired to write a blogpost. I will pay it, by posting two blogposts today.

Lately, people tend to ask me one similar question.
"Don't you get tired with all your daily activity?"
Maybe they are curious because I manage to handle business, attend meeting, supervise production process, read books, update my Instagram content, write blog, yet still have time to meet my friends.

Here's the point. I'm doing all those stuffs because I love it.
Well, sometimes it's exhausting for sure. But it doesn't stop me. Why? Because I want it. I need to do it. Just like writing this blog. I even spend my time between two meeting just to write this. Can you tell me how much I love writing for this blog?

Of course sometimes I'm tired and bored. Here's how I handle the temptation to stop.
It's better to feel tired because of having many things to do, than to feel tired and confused because of not knowing what to do. Right?Daniel Revelinohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05848435103247620358noreply@blogger.com0
